Make your Groundies rainproof!

GROUNDIES® rainproof

During a rainy winter like this one, we come to realize that our shoes have to endure a lot. We are often asked about how to properly protect and care for Groundies. A good question, as only leather that is well cared for will keep your feet warm and dry for a long time.

An essential factor is impregnating your shoes, which prevents moisture and dirt from penetrating the upper material. This way you can make your leather and imitation leather shoes water-repellent. By impregnating your Groundies, you will prolong their durability significantly.

How to impregnate your shoes correctly

  1. The first step is to completely remove all dirt and dust from your Groundies and afterwards allow them to dry well.

  2. Apply the waterproofing spray from a distance of approx. 20 centimetres. Make sure that all parts of the shoe are evenly covered. You should not only pay attention to the upper material, but also to seams, edges and lacing.

  3. It is best to repeat the whole process three times, leaving the shoe to dry briefly in the meantime. Several thin layers are more effective than a single thick layer. Let the shoes dry completely afterwards.

  4. Make sure that you only waterproof your shoes outdoors or in well-ventilated rooms. Inhalation can cause damage to your health.

Please refresh regularly!

Something many people don't know: You should waterproof your shoes regularly. A single impregnation at the beginning of autumn or winter is not enough. As you wear your shoes, the impregnation layer gradually wears off, so regular refreshing is necessary. During the cold season we recommend waterproofing every 2 weeks, depending on how often you wear your shoes.

This way, warm and dry feet in your Groundies barefoot shoes are guaranteed even in unpleasant weather.
